Polyps often shrink with steroid medications. If they block your breathing, get in the way of sinus drainage, or cause other problems, they may need to be surgically removed. If the underlying cause is a one-time infection or local issue, the polyps usually do not come back. If they grew because of allergies, allergic fungal sinusitis, or aspirin sensitivity, they are more likely to grow back after surgery.
