The ENT3D project has hit its first goal: three short learning videos that show how your nose and sinuses are built, how they work, and what the most common problems (and fixes) look like. The videos are detailed enough for health care providers but still friendly to patients who want to learn more. The HD videos are below, and they are also available in 3D virtual reality if you have the right viewer. To learn more about 3D viewing, see the Stereoscopic Start Page.
If you would rather start with something simpler, the Nose Cards: Learn About Your Sinuses slide show is a patient-friendly introduction. To read more about how the ENT3D videos were made, visit the Materials and Methods page.
Chapter 1 goes over what a sinus actually is. It walks through the main groups of sinuses: the cheek sinuses (maxillary), the forehead sinuses (frontal), the small honeycomb sinuses between the eyes (ethmoid), and the deep sinuses behind the eyes (sphenoid). The video uses 3D computer models, simple hands-on dissections, and CT scan pictures. It is detailed enough for health care providers and friendly to patients who want to learn more.
